Do You know? Manjha Is Banned

DO YOU KNOW NGT BANNED MANJHA

The National Green Tribunal in 2017 called for a country-wide ban on “Manjha”, a string used in kite flying.

"There shall be a total ban on the Manjha or thread for kite flying which is made of nylon or any synthetic material & or is coated with synthetic substance & is nonbiodegradable."   -National Green Tribunal(NGT)

The sale and purchase of this Manjha are punishable with up to 5 years of jail or a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh or both. Cops have been authorised to take action against sellers and buyers.

But Why NGT put a ban on Manjha?

Year after year, injuries & deaths are reported & cases are registered under Section 336* & 337** (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC against "unknown persons".

Equally these strings injure & kill birds. Every year, PETA receives thousands of calls regarding injuries to birds due to kite strings.

Despite the ban in Place, The use of Manjha is still continues. Who cares about laws. A strict implementation is needed.
